Amanda Burton and Paulette Garafalo appointed independent Non-Executive Directors
LONDON – 4 June, 2014 – Monitise plc (LSE: MONI, “Monitise” or the “Company”), a global leader in Mobile Money solutions, today announces a series of updates to its executive leadership team and Board of Directors.
Former Visa Inc. payments executive Elizabeth Buse has been appointed co-Chief Executive of Monitise Group, effective immediately. Elizabeth also joins the Company’s Board of Directors.
Monitise today announces that Elizabeth Buse is joining the company as co-CEO alongside Alastair Lukies. Until March, Elizabeth was at Visa Inc. for 16 years, most recently as EVP of Solutions, and prior to that President of Asia Pacific, Central Europe, Middle East & Africa.
Alastair and Elizabeth, a US citizen, have known each other for many years. From 2010 to 2012 she was a Non-Executive Director on the Monitise Board. After she left Visa, Al approached Elizabeth to join him at Monitise and the Board backed his suggestion. She and Alastair will work together on what Monitise believes is a huge opportunity globally to capitalise on the mass adoption of Mobile Money by financial institutions and other verticals. Enhancing the management team with someone with big-company experience is very much in line with the accelerated strategy Monitise announced in March.
Elizabeth’s skill sets are highly complementary to Alastair’s. As mentioned in today’s announcement, she will focus on operational matters including technology, product, sales and marketing. Alastair will focus on key relationships with partners and industry stakeholders, corporate development and major shareholders. Strategy will continue to be set by the executive leadership team in conjunction with the Board.

Monitise also announces today two Non-Executive Director appointments, Paulette Garafalo (President Brooks Brothers) and Amanda Burton (COO Clifford Chance).
