First mobile POS paper published
Mobey’s Mobile POS workgroup has published their first whitepaper The MPOS Breakthrough: How the Power of Mobile has Disrupted Payment. The paper was published on May 2 during a webinar for the media. It has received broad media attention in publications, such as Payment Eye, Finextra, Bobsguide Payment News, Bank Systems and Technology, and was downloaded more than 280 times from our website during the first week.
The paper and the webinar can be downloaded from the Mobey Forum website. Please feel free to share the paper with anyone interested in the topic and spread the word in social media.
Congratulation to all the workgroup members on outstanding work and a special thank you to the chair of the group, Matt Calman from Bank of America! The MPOS Workgroup will resume work and start on the second paper in the series, Business Models for MPOS, later on this month.
Mobile Wallet Webinar for Mobey Members
Mobey is about to launch the fourth paper in the series of whitepapers on the mobile wallet. The paper, Mobile Wallet: Structure and Approaches, looks into the structure of the wallet, the different types of wallets and the various levels of co-operation. The paper has been sent for member review in March and members’ comments have been considered in the final version. The current version of the paper can be found in the members’ area of the Mobey website.
The group’s chair, Jordi Guaus from CaixaBank, will present the paper’s key findings to Mobey members during a special sneak preview webinar on Wednesday 15 May at 3pm CET, ahead of the paper’s official launch on 21 May. Keep an eye out for two more Mobey papers coming out in June: “An NFC Security Analysis” and “Mobile Financial Terms Explained”. Both papers have been sent out for member review in April and are currently undergoing final edits.
New York Dates Confirmed
Mobey’s Autumn meeting has been changed from Singapore to New York. The meeting will be held on 10 -11 October with workgroup meetings on 9 October, hosted by SAP. More detail of the meeting will follow shortly.
The final meeting of the year will be held in Istanbul 10-12 December, hosted by BKM.
Mobey’s Board of Directors for 2013
After the first ever vote for Mobey’s Board of Directors, we have two new individuals joining the board: Kasper Sylvest Olsen from Danske Bank and Petra Bunchoten from ING. Please see Kasper’s and Petra’s bios below. The rest of the board is made up of the same directors as last year, apart from Wim Westerhof from Rabobank who has left Rabobank to become an independent consultant.
Ron van Wezel from Deutsche Bank was re-elected Chairman of the Board and Bent Bentsen was re-elected Vice-Chair. The other directors are: Boris Brunner from UBS, Matt Calman from Bank of America, Jordi Guaus from CaixaBank, Juha Risikko from Nordea, Nick Staib from HSBC, Tapio Sulkava from Nokia, Kristian Sorensen from Nets and Amir Tabakovic from PostFinance. Petra Bunchoten
ING
Ms Bunschoten currently serves as a Senior Consultant Mobile Financial Services at ING. In this role she is responsible for the mobile strategy of Payments and Cash Management of Commercial Banking for corporate clients and is involved in several international projects on mobile payments, banking and value add services. Prior to her work for Payments and Cash Management she worked for an international department of ING which drove convergence for payments, cards and cash services of ING Retail Units in Europe.
Ms Bunschoten is also a member of the European Payments Council Mobile Channel Working Group and has participated in the Mobey Forum since 2007.
Kasper Sylvest Olsen
Danske Bank
Mr Sylvest Olsen currently serves as a senior manager in Danske Banks Group Financial Infrastructure department. In this role he acts as an expert on various financial market infrastructures in both payments and securities. Kasper is a member of a number of committees, working groups and task forces.
Before his current position Kasper has worked as an (IT) project manager in Danske Bank and before joining Danske Bank he worked for 7 years as an economist in the Payment Systems Department in the Danish Central Bank.

New Image for Mobey
After a consultation from our members, Mobey’s new logo was decided on at the San Francisco Meeting. Thank you for all who voted –the discussion was vivid and we hope we are all pleased with the new logo going forward! The new logo has the same colors as the old logo to ensure continuity and brand recognition, but a new, modern front that gives it a fresh feel. The new logo will officially be launched at MobeyDay on June 11.
