Mobey Forum, the industry association working to define a sustainable and prosperous mobile financial services ecosystem, will be holding its regular member gathering in Frankfurt am Main, Germany on 31 May – 1 June. The decision follows a request from its members to specifically engage with this important economic centre and respond to increasing discussions and activity surrounding mobile payments and banking in Germany.
The event entitled ‘The Future of Mobile Payments & Go-To-Market Strategies’ will be hosted by Deutsche Bank, a founding member of Mobey Forum, and will cover the following areas:
– Worldwide mobile payment initiatives with a special focus on German-speaking Europe;
– The e-Single Euro Payments Area (eSEPA) vision for remote mobile payments;
– The perspective of merchants;
– A range of case studies, best practices and visions for the future.
The event is open to members and companies interested in joining the association.
The meeting will also be the first time the recently newly elected Mobey Forum Board will come together to confirm the on-going strategy and work priorities of the industry body. The board members are Deutsche Bank, DnB Nor, Nokia, HSBC, Nordea, Rabobank, laCaixa, as well as newly appointed Board members from Bank of America, UBS and Swiss Post Finance.
Ron van Wezel, Chairman of the Board at Mobey Forum and Director of Emerging Payment Streams at Deutsche Bank, comments: “With increasing announcements from key industry players regarding forthcoming mobile payment initiatives, the role of Mobey Forum to facilitate industry debate, share information and produce best practice literature has become essential. The extent of knowledge exchanged between our members – which includes financial institutions, mobile network operators, mobile handset manufacturers, payment processors and vendors – can significantly reduce a solution’s time to market and assist in creating technology that is user-friendly for both consumers and merchants.”
With Mobey Forum’s membership collectively representing nearly 500 million banking customers globally, 25% of the global customer base, van Wezel highlights the importance of hosting an event in Germany’s financial centre. He adds: Bringing Mobey Forum to Frankfurt at this current time allows us to engage with a number of German representatives that are in the process of developing pioneering mobile services, and providing them with a platform to exchange ideas and concepts. End-user acceptance and merchant requirements will be at the heart of the conference. Due to the recent media attention around mobile payments, we expect that this will be one of our most vibrant gatherings to date and Deutsche Bank is delighted to host this important gathering.”
